Email or call first, then a short discovery chat. From there I put together a scoped proposal with milestones, pricing, and who does what. Once we both sign off, we schedule a start date and go.
Most work is fixed-scope with a clear price, especially for packages. I also do hourly R&D or consulting when that makes more sense. Nonprofit and education projects can get adjusted rates if the scope fits.
